hi! i'm a person named rose. i write songs on the internet and listen to a lot of albums - music is kind of one of the more central things in my life. if you're one of my friends you probably know this!! but i don't know who will be reading this, so i'm typing this as if you're a stranger because as far as i know you might be.
i'm listening to the marc with a c album Pop! Pop! Pop! today. he put out a remix + remaster of the album about a yearish ago, so that's what i'm spinning. to my understanding it's one of the more divisive albums in his catalog - it was the first he recorded digitally while he was still getting the hang of doing that, so it sounds a little weird, but i think it's a bit charming. it's a hell of a good collection of pop songs, too, with hooks like "oh woe is I, oh poor pitiful me / fighting for love is like fucking for virginity" and "...it's a cover song by transvision vamp / 'tell that girl to shut it, or you're gonna beat her up!' / holly vincent beat you to the punch / pop pop pop goes weekend radio". the latter of those is from the opening track and one of my fave songs in his catalog, Holly Vincent, a wonderful ode to listening to the radio back when people did that.
i started typing this at about 1:30 PM pacific. it's nearly 4 now as i type this paragraph!! i just got off a call with my lovely girlfriend jay. we write songs together and we have been for like three years and i can't believe that one of my favorite people on earth is also one of the best songwriters i know. also i finished listening to pop pop pop, it's still a very good album. i dunno how much i'd recommend it to people new to marc with a c (usually i recommend obscurity or thanatophobia) but if you think you'd like it i would give it a shot!
getting near sundown. didn't really do much today aside from this, i've been working towards getting a job but even though everywhere is hiring nowhere is accepting. this is a problem! but i'm sure i will find a place eventually. i like the idea of having money, as much as capitalism is a bitch (this is generally agreed on).
i don't like ending this on a downbeat note uhhh i won $14 on a lottery ticket yesterday. and that was cool!!!
more words tomorrow???
